The Kings Arms, Didmarton

I would love to live in the Cotswolds, there is something about it, but with my husband’s family business being only 10 minutes away it’s not going to happen – marriage is all about compromise right?  It’s not all bad as we can be there in about 40 mins so I do like to spend as much time wondering the beautiful villages and countryside when I can.

The Kings Arms

I have passed The Kings Arms I don’t know how many times and never ever thought about popping in, probably because were always on the way or way back from somewhere!

My first visit here was for lunch with friends when we were off to Beaufort polo in June. They welcome dogs and have a lovely garden, restaurant and bar area which is just perfect as there is something for everyone.  I personally love pub grub a bit tarted up, which is just what you will find at The Kings Arms.

Bank Holiday Monday we spent the day in Cirencester, pottering round the beautiful town and took Ted for a lovely walk in Cirencester Park.  We wanted to get some late lunch and as Shaun had never been I thought we could go home via Tetbury and have some lunch in their pretty little garden

On arrival we were greeted with the sign that the pizza oven was open… result!  So with no hesitation we read the pizza menu and made a decision…

Margherita for both, 1 with mushrooms, 1 with caramelised onions, 1 chips and 1 mixed salad – I can’t have a meal without either lots of veg or lots of salad. I am known for my weird questions and altered meals when we go for food – never a surprise when I ask whether the  chicken is served hot or cold in the salad, or whether I could have no black pudding but extra mushrooms with my breakfast!  We sat in their pretty garden, surrounded by families, couples and dogs all enjoying the summer sun. The staff at the pub are super friendly and always happy to help.  The pub has a dark interior which is super cosy and I just can’t wait to go back autumn/winter and spend it by the log fire.

When food arrived -we had made the right decision, the pizzas were delicious with that slight charcoal taste to the base of the pizza . Yum yum yum!

All in all a lovely bank holiday Monday!

The Kings Arms is close to Beaufort Polo, Westonbirt Arboretum, and Highgrove, so if you’re ever passing it’s well worth a visit.

Can you recommend any other lovely pubs in the Cotswolds, Somerset area? Much to my waistline’s despair I do love to try new places!!
